If your day on the mountain ends with dipping bread into a bucket of hot cheese, chances are it was a good one. That was our inspiration behind the Heady Yeti sock. Made with midweight, moisture-wicking merino wool, this cushioned ski/ride sock blends winter landscapes with creature comforts and is ready to hit everything from moguls to park jumps before checking into aprés.

  • Men's over the calf socks average 17 in. from heel to cuff - expect them to cover the leg to just below the knee.
  • A performance fit means no slipping, no bunching, no boundaries. Here's to feeling connected and comfortable in your boots run after run.
  • Merino Wool has a natural ability to move heat and moisture, keeping skier's and rider's feet warm and dry.
  • All-season performers, midweight socks naturally adapt to keep your feet at the right temperature.
  • Reinforced Achilles cushion reduces heel lift, which helps socks feel better on and last season to season.
  • We close every toe seam using our True Seamless™ Toe technology for an ultra smooth, undetectable feel.
  • The “still” in Still Made in Vermont, USA is personal. We knit all our socks at our VT-based Mills - we can't imagine it any other way.
  • Unconditionally Guaranteed for Life - if these aren’t the longest lasting socks you’ve ever owned, return them for another pair.

My Go To Ski Sock

"I’ve been really impressed with the Darn Tough Men's Heady Yeti Over-the-Calf Midweight Ski & Snowboard Sock—they strike that perfect balance between warmth and breathability on long days in ski boots. The cushioning is just right without feeling bulky, and the over-the-calf fit stays up all day without slipping or bunching. Moisture control is solid, so your feet stay dry and comfortable even after hours on the mountain. They also hold their shape really well and feel just as good after multiple washes. Overall, super comfortable, durable, and built for performance—easy 5 stars."

Roomy toes, snug ankles, stay-put uppers

"These look GREAT on my partner. He reports that they feel more snug around his swollen ankles than the hunting style from DT, but not so tight as to be uncomfortable. He says he didn’t play tug-o-war all day and liked that they were in the same position at the end of the day as they began. He liked that the toe box and foot are roomy enough to allow good blood flow. He has worn them about the house, on wintery walks and while running errands."

. . now I just need some snow!

"These feel amazing, and cover the calf well. I like the thinner feel to them compared to some of my other thermal socks, so my legs don't feel cramped in the ski boot. I can't wait to use these this winter? Or maybe spring. . Well, when ever the snow gets here in the PNW!"

Best socks ever!

"Best winter socks I’ve ever worn. Great length and perfect for skiing - thin but excellent insulating properties. Work outdoors on a oyster farm and toes stay toasty warm on the boat."

Warm, but itchy for sensitive people

"These ski socks are super warm, but for those in our family who are sensitive to fabrics, these feel a bit too itchy."

Q&A

Is the thermolite ski sock as warm as the Merino warm ol?
Thermolite (synthetic) is very warm and excels at wicking moisture, but Merino wool is considered warmer for its weight and regulates temperature better, especially when wet. Thermolite performs surprisingly well for a synthetic, offering great insulation without bulk for activities like skiing where staying dry is key. Think of Thermolite as a fast-drying, lightweight insulator, while Merino provides superior natural warmth, odor resistance, and comfort across varied conditions.
If I order on December 8, will I have the socks before Christmas.

Hello. I'm buying this as a gift. If he wears a size 11.5 shoe, should I buy a large or X-large pair snowboard socks?
Hi Robbie, for a 11.5 shoe size we would recommend a size Large. Some folks on the upper end of a size run with width or volume concerns will size up for comfort.
