Socks Made in the USA

With yarns from America and around the globe.

Our Mills: Still in Vermont, USA

The “still” in our promise is personal. We've owned and operated the Mill for over 40 years. However, in 2004, we introduced Darn Tough Vermont socks with an industry-first Lifetime Guarantee.

When things were a little rough for American manufacturing, the Cabot family could have taken manufacturing somewhere else, and still made a buck. We didn’t. Instead, we rallied and started knitting the best, most durable sock we could imagine. We made something we could be proud of.

"Nobody ever outsourced anything for quality." — Ric Cabot, CEO

We’re still doing that. And we still knit each pair of these made in USA socks in Vermont with the highest quality yarns, sourced from around the world.

Sock Capital of the World

We didn’t make Northfield, Vermont. Northfield made us. A lot of us call this town our home. It’s beautiful here. But it’s a bit out of the way, seems to get colder than normal, and the cell service is questionable at best.

It’s why this community knits what people consider the best American made socks, the best socks they’ve ever worn.

We Make One Thing

And one thing only. A singular focus in a gorgeous, but tough environment. It lets us keep pushing, improving, and refining every detail. Quality over quantity – this town has earned it.

We Knit a Longer Lasting Sock

Owning our process puts our destiny in our hands. Guaranteeing a sock for life means never settling. The day we stop trying to improve our socks is the day we should stop making them.

Our socks are more durable than they were before. They will be more durable than they are now. We have yet to produce our best sock.

One Family

Kris M.

Kris is a Shift Manufacturing Manager at our Northfield Mill, but that doesn't quite cover it. Mentor feels closer. Raised in a blue-collar family business, he learned early that going farther means going together. Around here, he'd rather count heart than headcount.

Bridget K.

Around the Northfield Mill, Bridget's known as the people's cheerleader. As a Shift Manufacturing Manager, she makes sure no one gets left behind. Whether she's helping navigate a big change on the mill floor or making sure there's a gluten-free option at the company cookout, she pays attention to the details that make a difference.

Travis M.

Travis worked his way up from the knitting floor to Knitting Supervisor, earning the kind of respect that comes from doing the work firsthand. No fluff, no nonsense — just a focus on listening to others and making things better. Travis believes the job is never finished because we have yet to produce our best sock.

Your Local Spot

As much as we appreciate your business direct, the stores that carry our socks are part of the family. Many of them took a chance on us when we needed their support, and if you know a Vermonter, you know we never forget when you pulled our car out of the ditch, so-to-speak. Please, give us a zip code, and we can point you to local shops carrying
our socks.
